Privacy policy

What we collect
- Account: your email address and, if you sign in with Google or X, your name and profile photo from that service.
- Profile: the display name, handle, bio and photo you choose. These are public.
- Activity: your votes, notes, comments, and which events you open, used for streaks, achievements and recommendations. Other people see only totals, never your individual votes or reading history.
- Email preference: whether you want the yearly campaign email, and a rough region from your browser's time zone, used to apply the right consent rules.
- Waitlist: the email you give us on the support page.
What we don't do
We don't sell your data, show ads, or show your email address to anyone. We don't use third-party tracking cookies.
We send account emails (sign-in links, receipts, membership reminders). If you opt in, or in the U.S. if you don't opt out, we send at most a few campaign emails a year. Every one has an unsubscribe link, and you can change this on your profile.
Where it's stored
Data is stored with Supabase (database and sign-in) and served through Cloudflare. Submissions may be checked by an AI screening service to block illegal content. Browser storage keeps your saved events and theme on your device.
Your rights
You can edit your profile, change email preferences, and delete your account at any time from your profile. Deleting your account removes your profile, votes, notes and comments. For a copy of your data or any other request, email hello@tracetheroots.com.
Children
The site isn't directed at children under 13, and they may not create accounts.
